Watertight supports
Watertight supports are used to perform rain simulation tests on optical groups in the automotive field.
They are normally structures that accept only one sample at a time, faithfully reproducing the fixing points of the same one and the portion of the body around the perimeter of the lens.
The optical group is generally positioned as a grid and there can be removable parts on the support to simulate any potential mobile body area (bonnet, tailgate, etc.). In this case, additive manufacturing is the main technology; the materials that are maily used are plastic or aluminium.
